Helen L. Wisecup

Helen Laurel Wisecup, age 85, of rural Boone, Iowa, entered into rest on Monday, June 11, 2012 at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 15, 2012 in the Boone Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Boone with Rev. Gary Sneller officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14, at the Walter ~ Schroeder Funeral Home located at Fifth & Streets in Boone from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family present to greet friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Visitation will continue Friday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.

Helen was born on August 28, 1926 near Luther, Iowa, the daughter of Harold Lyman and Melvina Pearl (Page) Knox.

Helen grew up in the Luther area and graduated from Luther High School in 1943.

On August 8, 1944, Helen married Kenneth Ray Wisecup in Boone County, Iowa.

Helen was a homemaker and she also worked at the State Hospital in Woodward for 19 years, starting in 1969 as a Child Development Worker.

Helen always enjoyed being with her family around her home. She enjoyed baking and always had the time to make that special treat for her family members. Helen enjoyed gardening and grew many flowers around her home. She collected souvenir spoons to remember her travels with her husband of 57 years Ken.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2001; two sisters, Grace Miller and Gloria Yearian; brother, Ray Knox; great grandson Toby Yates and two grandchildren Michael Jackson and Sara Wisecup.

Helen is survived by her seven children, daughter, Linda Wilson of Ogden, Iowa; son, Gary Wisecup (Sandy) of Boone, Iowa; daughter, Sande Jackson of Boone, Iowa; daughter, Pam Elsberry of Boone, Iowa; son, Denny Wisecup (Patsy) of Ogden, Iowa; daughter, Sherri Corrigan (Dave) of Perry, Iowa; son, Terry Wisecup (Melony) of Princeton, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; her eight siblings, sister, Eleanor Jipp of Florida; sister, Deloris Pagliai (Sam) of Madrid, Iowa; sister, Margaret Lanning of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Marilyn Donnelly (Lloyd) of Florida; brother, Donald Knox (Charlotte) of Macomb, Illinois; sister, Jeanette Bentley (Gerald) of Blairsburg, Iowa; sister, Carolyn Pardun (Roger) of Arizona; brother, John Knox (Barb) of Macomb, Illinois. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion.
